You are more than your work.
Are you nodding? Does that sound right in your head? Does it feel true in your body? Many of us can hold the thought temporarily, but not as many really feel it as true, remember it, or use it to inform how we show up in and outside of our careers. Some of us actively resist it because we’ve built an identity, a set of values, and generate our self-worth from our work. It’s a simple concept, but not simple at all in practice.
If we haven’t met yet, my name is Christine and I’m a yoga therapist. That means my approach to therapy is based on Eastern philosophy, the practice of partnering with the body, with a focus on nervous system regulation and embodied self-knowing. I enjoy working with all kinds of people who are working on everything from anxiety to processing a divorce to forming a better relationship with their body to personal development! Luckily, I’ve had the good fortune to work with a steady stream of business owners, executives, and leaders.
The benefit of having a common clientele is that I get to know their issues well, understand their perspective more deeply, and move more quickly and directly toward their goals. One of the things I see in client after client is a difficulty separating themselves and their worth from their work.
In a world that constantly asks us to do more, achieve more, and perform at all costs, it’s easy to lose touch with ourselves. Burnout, anxiety, grief, chronic illness, strained relationships—these are not signs of failure; they are signals.
This newsletter, More Than Your Work, is a space I created for you to listen to those signals with care. Through the lens of yoga therapy and integrative practices, I help people who are holding it all together begin to gently unravel what’s no longer serving them—so they can reconnect with their body, their breath, and the parts of themselves they've been too busy to meet.
